President Biden Wins a $5 Bet on Trump Defeating Harris, Prompting Questions About Political Betting
In a twist no one saw coming (except, apparently, President Joe Biden), the Commander-in-Chief is now $5 richer after winning a bet on Donald Trump taking the White House over his own Vice President, Kamala Harris.
"People said I was just being my usual ‘Uncle Joe’ self," Biden told reporters, grinning while flashing the crisp $5 bill he reportedly pocketed from an unnamed Senate colleague. "But I knew ol’ Donny had the juice."
According to inside sources, the president’s initial wager was made in casual jest as the race started, but as the campaign heated up, Biden's playful bet gained some real political currency. “You could say he took the gamble more seriously than some legislative debates,” remarked a source familiar with the matter. “It’s not every day you see a president rooting for the competition.”
Biden’s office quickly clarified that the bet was “made in good humor” and should not be interpreted as an endorsement of Trump. “It was a simple joke that spiraled into a winning bet,” said Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, adding, “President Biden is committed to supporting the transition process, and yes, he is treating himself to a Diet Coke with his winnings.”
